Are you tired? Are you feeling overwhelmed? Do you need a break from this crazy life? Don’t waste your money on psychotherapy and medication. You just need a little beach therapy. Here’s a little video of the Butler’s Saturday therapy session on Pensacola Beach.
Pensacola Beach. Beautiful even in a thick fog.
(music by Dylan LeBlanc. Look him up. Buy his music. I love his work.)
Last week, Gulf Coast surfing legend Yancy Spencer III passed away. On Sunday there was a memorial paddle-out to honor him. It was a truly beautiful and moving event. (More photos on our Facebook Page)
Second film in a row. This one is just a little bit older. It’s a Pensacola tourism film produced in 1964 by Dodson, Craddock & Born. I really got a kick out of this one. Classic film reel style and images of a 1960′s Pensacola. Great stuff.
The New Year Trailer
The New Year is a little film making the rounds that was filmed entirely here in beautiful Pensacola and is getting some pretty good press. Just from the trailer you can spot Cordova Lanes, Seville Quarter, the beach and more.
“The New Year” represents a glowing coming-out party for its debutant writer-director Brett Haley and star Trieste Kelly Dunn. It feels like a film destined for later rediscovery by cineastes curious to see the first flowering of two serious talents.”
- Variety“Will break your heart.”
- The Village Voice“An observant and compassionate drama… Has gem-like moments scattered like Waffle House hashbrowns.”
- The Wall Street Journal
You can see it at the Gulf Breeze Cinema 4 starting January 7th. The director Brett Haley will be at some of the screenings for Q&A after the movie. Pretty cool.
The sun is setting on another year. It’s been kind of a rough one on the Emerald Coast. But each new sunset brings us a little closer to normal. Well, at least the wonderfully wacky, extraordinarily beautiful kind of “normal” we get around here.
Happy New Year!
